Eero Max 7
Wi-Fi 7 in a single router with 10G ethernet. For households that want to buy once and not think about WiFi for the next decade.
$599
What we like
- Wi-Fi 7 delivers higher throughput and lower latency than Wi-Fi 6E, which benefits real-time smart home devices
- 2.5G and 10G ethernet ports let you build a wired backbone for cameras and NAS devices
- 4,500 sq ft coverage from a single unit, expandable with additional eero Max 7 nodes
- Eero app simplicity with the same easy setup experience as the Pro 6E
What could be better
- At $599 per unit, the price only makes sense for households that want to avoid upgrading for 7+ years
- Wi-Fi 7 client devices are still relatively rare, so you won't see full benefits immediately
- Single unit may not cover larger homes without adding additional nodes at $599 each
Best for
- • Households with high device counts that want the latest WiFi standard
- • Anyone with a 10G ethernet setup or plans to install one
- • Buyers who prefer spending more now to avoid replacing their router for the next decade
Our verdict
The eero Max 7 is a forward-looking purchase. Wi-Fi 7 is the latest standard, and the 10G ethernet port puts it ahead of anything else eero sells. Reviewers at The Verge and Tom's Guide note that real-world Wi-Fi 7 benefits are still emerging since most client devices don't support it yet, but the lower latency and improved multi-link operation do benefit smart home setups with many simultaneous connections. For most households, the eero Pro 6E at $200 for three units is the more sensible buy. The Max 7 is for buyers who want to buy once and not think about WiFi upgrades for a very long time.
