Our verdict
The Arlo Pro 5 has genuinely excellent video and the smart alerts are useful when they work. The catch is the total cost: $180 for the camera plus $13-20/month for the features that make it worth buying. If you're OK with that ongoing cost, the experience is polished. If you're not, the Eufy SoloCam S340 does most of this without a subscription.
